She had an eye for the men and liked to flirt.ĭolores was preceded in death by her mother, Lena Harrison sister, Frances Damron and her “soul” sister, Velma Lenard. She loved her stuffed animals and had a huge collection one bear she kissed every night. She never forgot a birthday or holiday and she loved sending cards to everyone she knew. She had a great wit and spunk, along with a remarkable memory. Despite her disability, she learned to be content with her circumstance she just didn’t want to be in a nursing home and by the grace of God, we were able to keep her at home. Her grands and great-grands were the light of her life.ĭolores loved westerns, wrestling, hockey and puzzle books and when she became immobile, that and visits became her entertainment. She loved giving and getting hugs and her desire was for her children and her grands and great-grands to know they are loved and valued. She believed in working to earn her way, giving and encouraging. She was a simple lady and instilled many values in her family. One of her most voiced sayings was “if I’ve got it, you’ve got it” she asked for so little yet would give all she had. She loved her family with her whole heart as well. She loved the Lord and was faithful to read her Bible and Our Daily Bread every morning.

What is important about her is what’s between the dash, between her birth and her going home to be with the Lord. After her health declined, her new friends were nurses and doctors, whom she loved and shared her peppermint candies with, if you were special, you got two. She was a loyal employee and made many friends along the way. She retired from Community Hospital in 1996 when she began her second job, nurturing and helping to raise her grandchildren.
